The Late Beatles

Being mad in love with later Beatles music is a relatively new thing for me. I am ashamed to say that I hadn't even bothered to listen to songs like the Magical Mystery Tour, With a Little Help from my Friends, and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da after my disappointment with the album Revolver. The only songs I enjoyed on that album were songs that I already owned. Fortunately for me, one of my friends only like late Beatles and made me listen to some more. I instantly fell in love with songs like Across the Universe and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. I couldn't believed that I'd been missing out on such great music all these years.

The Early Beatles

When I look at a photograph of the Beatles and I find at least 3/4 of them to be attractive, I know that these are the early Beatles. When they are no longer attractive, these are the late Beatles. Quite superficial, aren't I? This post is about the early Beatles and will be closely followed by the late Beatles. The movies Help and Hard Days Night were created in their early period as well as You're Gonna Lose That Girl and Can't Buy Me Love.

Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow), I'm a Believer, (I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone, Last Train to Clarksville, Daydream Believer. Really first-rate music. They were cute and funny, had a good show, and sometimes didn't play their instruments. Classic!

The Supremes

The Supremes are a peerless example of the Girl Groups of the 60's. Baby Love, Come See About Me, and Love Child are some of my favorite songs of theirs. I never have heard a song sung by them that I didn't love.

Agent 99. The *real* one.

Agent 99 was my hero growing up. I'll never forget her knock-out lipstick. Beautiful and quite dangerous to Kaos agents! Just don't kiss Max while wearing it. Get Smart was a really good show. I loved Max and the Chief, too.

Dreaming of Jeanie

Barbara Eden. Just look at those eyelashes. The wonderful costumes. The fantastic hair. Inspiration for the genie in all of us. One of my heros growing up. Still shapes my taste in eye makeup.

Sci Fi of the 60's

It was classic. It was tacky. There was very little plot but lots of originality. It was good stuff. Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke were writing. The Time Tunnel and Star Trek were on TV. It was a golden age of science fiction. Good stuff!
